Halloween is over and Thanksgiving has been celebrated. For those Seniors who live far away from family, this can be a very lonely time of year.
It’s important to keep in touch with the people who love us, but who may not be able to travel to see us on important family holidays.
Perhaps arranging for them to have a special dinner with old friends they don’t get to see as often anymore. Sometimes there are several friends all in similar situations, and we can help you put something together for them.
All of us, if we are lucky, will one day be a senior, and hopefully, we will have modeled kind and compassionate behavior that our family members will learn so that when we are old and frail, they won’t forget about us.
What can you do when a loved one is far away and you know they will be missing you? Send a small Christmas tree. One that sits on a table top.
How about a photo book of all those pictures you posted on Facebook this year. Chances are your loved ones would be thrilled to have actual photos to look at.
Perhaps a DVD of your family sharing something sweet. Or even a CD of their favorite songs and some of their old favorite movies.
A long phone call, or perhaps a Christmas letter that’s just for them, some photos, and if you can arrange a get together for them with old friends will go a long way to making a nice Holiday for someone you love.
