I was reading a comment made by a woman in her 80’s She had been invited to a family wedding, and while she dearly wanted to attend, she was hesitant.
The venue was going to be out of doors and she and her husband have trouble navigating the uneven ground. Plus she was worried they might get too cold.
Also, her husband needed the use of a walker if he had to walk for any more than a few feet. I thought these might also be some things to point out to younger family members before the Thanksgiving Holiday.
You may be excited to have your Gramps and Grandma attend your Thanksgiving dinner, but try to think about some of the things which could make their day a little more comfortable.
If you can, perhaps ask the older cooks in your family to send a favorite recipe along, or if they are able to, to cook a favorite dish.
Something else you might want to think about. All too often, we think of questions we should have asked our elders before they pass away. It could be a great time to ask those questions and perhaps record it. It might even be something an older child wants to take on to keep from being bored at a big, family dinner.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from all of us here at Coastal Concierge Home Care of Vero Beach.
